According to the Ministry of Water Resources, the section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal north of the Yellow River was fully opened on the 16th, marking the fifth consecutive year since 2022 that the entire canal has achieved continuous water flow.

To continuously promote the ecological restoration of rivers and lakes in the North China region and the comprehensive management of groundwater over-extraction, the Ministry of Water Resources has organized the implementation of full water flow through the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal for five consecutive years. The 2026 water replenishment plan will continue until the end of June, using the section of the canal north of the Yellow River as the main thoroughfare. It starts from Dongbianmen in Beijing, passes through Tonghui River and North Canal to Sancha River Mouth in Tianjin, and from the outlet gate of the Yellow River crossing project in Liaocheng, Shandong Province, passes through the Small Canal, Wei Canal, and South Canal to Sancha River Mouth in Tianjin. It involves four provinces and cities: Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Shandong, flowing through 8 prefecture-level administrative regions and 31 county-level administrative regions.
