Beijing, February 13 (Xinhua) — Reporter Fan Xi reports that on February 13, information from China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. revealed that in January 2026, railway construction progressed with high quality and efficiency. Nationwide railway fixed asset investment reached 46.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%, effectively driving overall social investment and achieving a strong start to the year.

The head of the Construction Department of China State Railway Group introduced that since the beginning of this year, the group has focused on serving major national strategies and regional economic development. Leveraging the advantages of the railway construction industry’s long supply chain and wide influence, and utilizing the national "two priorities" support policies, railway construction has been accelerated, with significant progress made in several key projects. The Jinhua-Jiande High-Speed Railway section from Lanxi to Jiande has entered the trial operation phase. The Shandong section of the Xiong'an New Area to Shangqiu High-Speed Railway and the Xi'an to Shiyan High-Speed Railway have begun static acceptance work, marking the countdown to their opening and operation.

At the same time, all participating construction units have optimized construction organization, ensured safety and quality management during winter construction, and actively advanced ongoing projects. In Shaanxi, the Jiulishan Tunnel's No. 2 inclined shaft section and the Huangjiayuan Tunnel entrance section of the Yan'an-Yulin High-Speed Railway, both constructed by China Railway 14th Bureau, have each surpassed the 1,000-meter milestone. In Anhui, the No. 1 pier of the Lujianxi Left Diversion Super Bridge on the Hechi Railway, constructed by China Railway 11th Bureau, was successfully completed, marking the first completed pier on the entire Hechi Railway and a significant milestone in the project. In Sichuan, the Echengshan Tunnel, a critical and challenging project of the Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway constructed by China Railway 18th Bureau, was successfully completed. The tunnel spans approximately 4,288 meters and faced multiple geological risks during excavation, including gas, faults, karst formations, and fissure development.

The head of the Construction Department of China State Railway Group stated that in the next step, the group will continue to accelerate the construction of a world-class modern railway network. It will focus on network connectivity, network enhancement, and chain strengthening, improve construction organization, widely apply new engineering technologies and techniques, and strengthen safety, quality, investment, and environmental control. The group aims to efficiently and effectively advance key railway projects, fully leverage the driving role of railway construction investment, and provide strong support for comprehensively expanding domestic demand and promoting regional economic and social development.
