On June 10, the 2026 World Coal Technology Innovation Conference was grandly held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. IBI Global Cross-Border Strategy General Manager Ghulam Qadir was invited to attend the conference, joining over 800 industry leaders, experts, scholars, and business representatives from 16 major coal-producing countries worldwide to discuss technological innovation and green development pathways in the coal industry.
Qadir stated in his keynote speech at the conference that Pakistan possesses over 185 billion tons of coal reserves in the Thar Desert, making it one of the countries with the greatest development potential for coal resources globally. He emphasized that technological innovation is the core driving force for achieving high-quality development in the coal industry and expressed his hope for global partners to work together to build an efficient, clean, and sustainable coal future. Qadir specifically mentioned that in May 2026, the Prime Minister of Pakistan visited IBI, and the two sides reached multiple cooperation intentions in areas such as clean coal utilization, coal gasification, and coal-based chemicals. He stated that IBI, as a strategic gateway to Pakistan, has established a comprehensive service system encompassing rapid approvals, business facilitation, association support, and precise matchmaking, providing full support for Chinese and global enterprises entering the Pakistani market.
During the conference, industry associations from the world's top ten coal-producing countries, including China, Australia, India, Germany, and Poland, jointly released the "Action Plan for Promoting Global Coal Technology Innovation—Shanghai Initiative." This initiative focuses on five key areas: intelligent mining, clean coal utilization, ecological protection of mining areas, cross-border collaborative innovation, and professional talent cultivation. It proposes action guidelines for the collaborative development of the global coal industry, aiming to build an open, inclusive, and interconnected global coal industry community with a shared future. Qadir, as an international representative, participated in witnessing the release of the initiative and stated that he would promote the implementation of the initiative in Pakistan and related IBI cooperation projects.
Currently, IBI is accelerating the advancement of its third growth curve—cross-border industrial belt expansion. In the coal sector, the company leverages its strategic capabilities in "platform, technology, and data," focusing on smart mining solutions, a digitalized cross-border coal supply chain platform, and collaborative services for the coal chemical industry chain. IBI will continue to play its role as a bridge in the industrial internet platform, deepening pragmatic cooperation with Pakistan and other countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, promoting the coal industry’s transformation towards digitalization, intelligence, and cleanliness, and working with global partners to build a new ecosystem for an efficient, clean, and sustainable coal industry.
