On March 23, the planned 40-day maintenance shutdown of the Gezhouba No. 2 ship lock entered its 20th day. The maintenance site was orderly, the navigation operation was safe and stable, the overall progress exceeded 50%, and the goal of "halfway through the construction period, halfway through the task" was successfully achieved.
As of now, key construction tasks such as the repair of the top gates of the left lower and right upper miter gates, the disassembly and repair of the right lower hoist stand box, and the repair of the cavitation surface of the water supply corridor have been completed. The special projects implemented simultaneously have completed the power-up of the cabinets and entered the network debugging stage.
This maintenance period has tight requirements, high organizational difficulty, and strict technical standards. The efficient maintenance is not only due to precise organization and coordination and the concerted efforts of the maintenance personnel but also benefits from the promotion and application of a batch of new equipment and new technologies. It is understood that new equipment such as the "synchronous lifting system and mechanical top support system for miter gates" and plunger pump maintenance tooling independently developed by the technical personnel of the Yangtze River Three Gorges Navigation Administration, as well as new technologies such as ultrasonic cleaning of hydraulic valve parts and underwater welding technology, have been promoted and applied in this maintenance, helping to improve the quality and efficiency of the maintenance.
During the maintenance period, navigation operation was safe and stable. With the strong support of port and shipping enterprises, shipowners, and maritime management agencies along the Yangtze River, the Yangtze River Three Gorges Navigation Administration scientifically implemented the linkage control of ships passing through the Yangtze River trunk line, reasonably arranged the orderly anchoring and waiting for locks of ships passing through the dam along the way; focused on organizing the regular directional operation of the Three Gorges North Line ship lock; timely released the dynamic draft control standards for the Gezhouba Sanjiang pilot channel, guiding shipowners to reasonably load; coordinated the matching operation of the Three Gorges North Line ship lock with the Gezhouba No. 1 ship lock and the Three Gorges ship lift with the Gezhouba No. 3 ship lock. In addition, young volunteers were organized to go to the ship's bow to explain policies and listen to suggestions, ensuring safe, stable, and orderly navigation during the maintenance period with high-quality service and efficient operation.
According to statistics, from March 4 to March 23, the Three Gorges North Line ship lock safely operated 292 lock times, passing 1,106 ships and 4.772 million tons of cargo; the Three Gorges ship lift safely operated 291 cabin times, passing 37,000 passengers; the Gezhouba No. 1 and No. 3 ship locks safely operated 783 lock times, passing 1,472 ships and 5.108 million tons of cargo, and 63,000 passengers.
