On September 29, 2022, Professor Zhang En from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences led the Responsibility Cloud Research Institute in Beijing to release the "ESG Index Report of the Internet Industry."

The report comprehensively considers factors such as vertical tracks, reputation, influence, and market value, selecting 11 vertical areas with high social concern, such as e-commerce, social platforms, video streaming, software services, and mobile devices. Based on influence and market value, it constructs ESG evaluation criteria and selects 33 leading internet companies within segmented industries as evaluation samples. With reference to domestic and international CSR/ESG standards, it builds an ESG evaluation model composed of ESG governance, social value, and risk management, detailing 12 evaluation topics and over 70 evaluation indicators. Indicators are matched based on ESG information disclosed by enterprises and related third-party information, forming an ESG index score for companies.

In this research, IBI earned the 8th place with an index score of 69.5. IBI closely revolves around major industry orientations such as industrial digitization, the industrial internet, and supply chain innovation application. It vigorously implements strategies for industrial digitization and internet development, enhances the integration of digital technology with traditional industries, adheres to the new development concept, and focuses on three main areas: responsibility management, coordinated development, and community harmony.

Over the past decade, the internet industry has accelerated growth, permeating all aspects of social life and exerting a profound impact on society.

Since 2021, a series of policies and regulations, such as the "Cybersecurity Law," "Data Security Law," "Personal Information Protection Law," and "14th Five-Year Plan for Digital Economy Development," have been successively released, providing new directions and connotations for the business development of internet companies. Effectively responding to the new social responsibility requirements of regulatory authorities, enhancing ESG management and practice, and using the digital economy to promote high-quality economic and social development are the inevitable paths for the survival and development of internet companies.

In the future, IBI will continue to develop its strengths, further improving responsibility management capabilities, coordinated development, and community harmony. It will steadfastly uphold its responsibility and mission in the overall framework of serving economic, environmental, and social development, contributing to sustainable development.
